CX-5 – Exploring the Standard and Available Safety Technologies

2018 CX-5 Pedestrian Detection Safety Technologies
Pedestrian Detection Safety Technolgies

When you start to shop for the 2018 Mazda CX-5, you will want to be aware of the various safety technologies and driver assistive technologies that help you stay safe and make driving easier. The CX-5 price already includes multiple features standard, such as the rearview camera, Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring System, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, and Smart City Brake Support. Take a closer look at these and the optional CX-5 specs to see why the CX-5 is a great buy for those who value safety.

Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring System and Rear Cross Traffic Alert

A standard feature included in the CX-5 price, the Advanced Blind Spot Monitoring System and Rear Cross Traffic Alert systems work together. The first of these detects objects in your blind spots to either side, letting you know before a quick-moving vehicle actually enters your blind spot. The latter alerts you about vehicles coming from the side as you back up.

Smart City Brake Support

This standard feature detects objects in front of you at speeds between four and 30 kilometers per hour. If it detects an object, it will prepare your CX-5 by moving the brake pads so they are closer to the brake disc. Then, if you don’t react in time, the system will automatically apply your brakes.

Smart Brake Support

Smart Brake Support reduces the severity of collisions or avoids them completely, working when you are driving at a minimum of 16 kilometers per hour. It will first warn you of the collision then apply the brakes if you do not react in time.

Pedestrian Detection

The available Pedestrian Detection gets high praise on CX-5 reviews, working with Smart City Brake Support and Smart Brake Support. This system detects pedestrians and stops you if you do not respond to the warning. It can even detect pedestrians when going between ten and 80 kilometers per hour.

Forward Obstruction Warning

With the Forward Obstruction Warning system, your 2018 Mazda CX-5 detects vehicles in front of you and lets you know about a collision risk with enough time for you to take action. It will ideally prevent the need for other systems to engage.

Lane-Keep Assist System

While some systems just keep the auto between the lines, leading to an unnatural-feeling tug on your steering wheel, the CX-5’s system feels more natural. It takes your intention into account, helping to ease you into lane changes and turns. There is also a Lane Departure Warning System that senses lane markings and lets you know if you are accidentally drifting out.

Mazda Radar Cruise Control

The Mazda Radar Cruise Control system offered on the CX-5 SUV includes Stop and Go Function. It judges your relative distance to and the speed of the car in front of you, including as slow as zero km/hour, ensuring you keep a safe following distance. Starting up again is under your control for safety reasons. This feature is further complemented by the Distance Recognition Support System that measures the distance separating your CX-5 and the auto in front of you, recommending a safe and comfortable following distance.

Traffic Sign Recognition System

This available system in the Mazda CX-5 relies on cameras to read signs on the road, including stop signs, do not enter, and speed limits. The information then appears on your colour Active Driving Display so your eyes can stay on the road.

With so many safety technologies to watch your back in the 2018 Mazda CX-5, you should be able to handle traffic jams or vehicles that seem to come out of nowhere with confidence, protecting you and your family.

The All-New 2017 Mazda CX-5

When you need a finely crafted car that combines efficiency with reliability, look no further than the Mazda CX-5 for 2017. Designed with the ultimate comfort in mind, the 2017 CX-5 places all the driving controls in the most logical places—right at the driver’s fingertips. The CX-5 doesn’t stop with ensuring the driver’s comfort. Each passenger seat is thoughtfully designed for your riding pleasure. Just because it is a compact SUV doesn’t mean that it can’t be comfortable.

Mazda CX-5 Review

The CX-5 has three trim levels from which to choose. Many features are standard across all trim levels, but there are some that are available only on certain trims. The available trims are GX, GS, and GT. The body is designed to be attractive, have curb appeal, and be aerodynamic. Even the paint is specially formulated to enhance every line on the CX-5. Mazda’s exclusive KODO “Soul of Motion” design brings art to life with visual expressions of energy. Mazda seeks to connect its cars with people’s emotions, presenting vehicles that speak to the individual driver. This enables the driver and the car to be in complete harmony with oneanother.

Performance Features

The heart of the Mazda CX-5 is its drive train, with the GS and GT powered by the SKYACTIV 2.5-liter engine. This powertrain couples with an automatic transmission and your choice of front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. This dynamic combination will achieve a fuel mileage of 9.8L/100km in the city and 7.7L/100km on the highway with the FWD and 10.2 city/8.3 highway L/100km on the AWD.

The available i-ACTIV AWD protects you when driving in adverse weather conditions. When the weather is iffy, road conditions can vary from dry to wet to icy in no time. The i-ACTIV system monitors temperature changes, braking patterns, and speed changes to predict when to shift from front-wheel drive to all-wheel drive as needed. You may never be aware of when this change takes place, which is Mazda’s intent. While you focus on your driving, Mazda focuses on making your driving experience as safe as possible.

Interior Features

Moving to the interior, you’ll appreciate the Active Driving Display that projects your speed, route direction, and vehicle status onto the lower portion of the windshield in your direct line of sight. While not obscuring your view of the road ahead, it does help to minimize the distraction of having to glance down at the speedometer. More than 250 enhancements have been incorporated into the 2017 Mazda CX-5. Included in these are a quieter cabin and the available metal wood trim that adds a touch of luxury to the interior. Everyone will appreciate the generous access room that makes getting in and out of the car so easy. The available front and rear-heated seats will ensure everyone’s comfort in chilly weather, and the rear air conditioning vents will add comfort on hot days.

You’ll find plenty of room to stash all your traveling necessities in the glove box, center console bin, overhead console with its holder for sunglasses, pockets in both front doors, and cup/bottle holders in both the front and back. Both front seats are manually adjustable on the GX trim, but the driver’s seat is power adjustable on the GS and GT trim levels. The front passenger’s seat remains manually adjustable on all three trims. The rear seats recline for maximum relaxing comfort. The rear seat also features a 40/20/40 split fold-down to increase the rear cargo capacity. The GS and GT trims also feature a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift.

You will enjoy your favorite music through the available Bose® speaker system. Stay connected with the Bluetooth® hands-free phone capability and the MAZDA CONNECT infotainment system. Available in the MAZDA CONNECT are Stitcher™ and Sirius XM™ satellite radio, an emergency 911 system, and SMS text messaging. There are two USB audio ports and two USB charging ports in both the front and the rear seating areas. The steering wheel-mounted audio controls make it simple for the driver to adjust the volume of the music.

The front air bags, front side air bags, and side curtain air bags will help to protect you in case of a collision. The frame is strengthened with side-impact beams in the doors. A rearview camera assists in backing up safely. Other safety features include anti-lock brakes, lane departure warning, traction control, advanced blind spot monitoring with rear cross traffic alert, and a ring structure unibody construction.

Mazda CX-5 Price

All three trim levels are priced at under $35,000, making them affordable for nearly every budget. The base GX trim is just under $25,000, easily putting it within reach.

Comparing the Mazda CX-5 2016 with the 2017

Most changes are subtle, but the engine compartment is somewhat longer. The taillights and headlights are slightly longer and narrower. The 2017’s interior is better streamlined and adds more chrome for a classier appearance. The rear seats now have a two-stage reclining adjustment and may be heated. Cabin noise has been reduced by 1.3 dB, making conversation easier. An upgraded steering wheel is a bonus for the driver.

Budds’ Mazda Customer Appreciation Day!

On Wednesday April 19th, we invited customers to an appreciation day! Thank you to everyone that came out! There was tons of food on the BBQ, Bose Headphones giveaway & free oil changes given out. The showroom was packed all throughout the evening with everyone enjoying the BBQ, as well as being the very first to take the new 2017 CX-5 on a test drive. Once again, thank you to everyone that came out and we hope you enjoyed it!

2017 Mazda MX 5: Price, Performance and Paint Colour Schemes

The 2017 model of Mazda’s popular MX-5 Miata is now available in Canada. Read our blog post to find out the difference between models, prices and colours.

The luxurious lines of the 2017 Mazda MX 5 led some to believe that it might be prohibitively expensive due to its stunning new looks. However, Miata fans were pleasantly surprised when the pricing data was released.

Starting with a very reasonable MSRP of $31,900, this vehicle is very competitively priced to keep its loyal admirers happy. After all, Mazda recognizes that a big part of this amazing automobile’s allure is the ability of the manufacturer to keep the cost at an acceptable level.

This is a seriously sporty vehicle that is being offered at an extraordinarily attractive price, and drivers have been expressing their jubilation whenever they swing by a dealership to test drive it. Although the materials and parts are all top-notch, the cost is something that Mazda lovers are able to bear. Obviously, the final price of a vehicle depends heavily upon the trim level and accessories, but the starting cost allows for all kinds of consumers to consider the Mazda Miata 2017.

Colour Schemes:

For this year, the colours being offered are more understated yet somehow eye-catching than ever. Available in Crystal White Pearl, Jet Black Mica, Meteor Grey Mica and Ceramic Metallic, the 2017 Miata boasts colour possibilities that will make drivers feel ready for a day out on the racetrack—or an evening out at a fine restaurant. With black on black on the interior, minimalists may luxuriate in the sense of a streamlined theme. Indeed, no detail was spared when designers were dreaming up the colours for the 2017 Mazda Miata.

2017 MX-5 GX Model

2017 Mazda MX 5 GX Model
Constantly reminding drivers how luxurious it feels to own a convertible, this magnificent model boasts a soft top complete with a glass window in the back. Features such as the push button start and 16″ silver finish alloy wheels make customers take a second look, and this model possesses a lot of the creature comforts that contribute to a smooth and enjoyable ride

2017 MX-5 GS Model

2017 Mazda MX 5 GS Model

This car bursts onto the scene with all of the spirit and energy Miata drivers expect. With its SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine, this year’s Mazda Miata reflects all of the innovative engineering work that has been done in order to make this engine as efficient and powerful as possible. The 17″ gunmetal alloy wheels provide the finishing touch that a car of this caliber deserves; in other words, it’s a real head-turner.

2017 MX-5 GT Model (Grand Touring)

2017 Mazda MX 5 GT Model

This is the supremely souped-up version of the Miata, with the high-lustre wheels and pretty much all of the bells and whistles that let others know that this is what it’s like to drive a premium vehicle—for the price of an affordable one. The convertible cloth top liner and Bose® system truly take this model into a new standard of excellence, putting an exclamation point on what is already quite an exceptional vehicle.

2017 MX-5 RF Model (Retractable Fastback)

2017 Mazda MX 5 RF Model

This is the model that most of the buzz has been about recently, with much of the news media comparing the 2017 Mazda MX 5 Retractable Fastback to a certain European sports car that possesses a much higher price tag.

The power-folding top only takes about 12 seconds to get the job done, and drivers are swooning over the lines of the fastback when the top is closed. Part of the fun has been the surprise factor; no one really expected Mazda to come out with a fastback, especially not one as sleek and refined as this one.

Eager Mazda fans have been lining up at dealerships to see this convertible up close, and it certainly doesn’t disappoint. It has all of the spirit of the Miata—with a futuristic, super premium bent, drivers will be excited about the RF for years to come. The Miata has come a long, long way since its debut at the Chicago Auto Show back in 1989, and this retractable fastback is proof that the model will continue to evolve in unexpected yet innovative ways.
